This Privacy Policy explains how [PHADE LLC NAME] ("Phade," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Phade website, mobile apps, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Phade is a social sports picks platform operated from the State of New Jersey, United States.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Age Requirement

Phade is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us at privacy@phade.app and we will delete the account.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address, a display name, a username (handle), and (optionally) a profile picture. Authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk, which issues a session token for your device.

Picks and contest activity

We record the picks you make, the contests and leagues you join or create, the play-money wagers and budgets associated with those picks, chat messages you send inside leagues and contests, and the achievements you earn. This information is shown to other users within the leagues and contests you participate in.

Device and usage data

We collect standard device and usage data such as IP address, browser or mobile OS version, device push tokens (where you have enabled notifications), pages or screens viewed, and timestamps of actions you take. We use this to run the Service, debug errors, and protect against abuse.

Communications

If you contact us, we keep a record of that correspondence. If you opt into email notifications, we store your notification preferences and send transactional emails through SendGrid.

Information We Do Not Collect

Phade is not a gambling service. We do not collect or store payment card numbers, bank account details, Social Security numbers, or any government-issued identification. All contest budgets, wagers, and winnings on Phade are play-money records that exist only inside the platform.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate your account, grade your picks, compute standings and achievements, deliver in-app and email notifications you have opted into, respond to support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the Service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your picks or chat messages to train third-party machine-learning models.

Sharing With Third Parties

We share limited data with the following service providers so that the Service can function:

  • Clerk hosts authentication and stores your email, username, and password (we never see or store your password).
  • SendGrid delivers transactional and notification emails on our behalf.
  • The Odds API and ESPN provide public sports schedules, scores, and betting lines. We send no personal information to these providers, only anonymous requests.
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) deliver push notifications to your device when you opt in. We send only the notification content and your device token.
  • Our hosting provider runs the servers and database that store the data described above.

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or valid legal process, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. We keep server logs for up to 90 days, and we keep database backups for up to 14 days for disaster recovery. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal information within 30 days, subject to backup retention windows.

Your Choices and Rights

You can update your display name, username, avatar, and notification preferences at any time from your profile settings. If you would like a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or would like to correct it, please email privacy@phade.app.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your Phade account at any time from Profile › Account › Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. We remove your profile, your picks, your contest standings, your chat messages, your notifications, your push subscriptions, your achievements, and your authentication record at Clerk. Copies of data contained in encrypted database backups are removed as those backups age out of the 14-day retention window. Because deletion is immediate, it cannot be undone.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including HTTPS for all network traffic, hashed password storage through Clerk, encrypted database backups, and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children Under 13

The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

International Users

Phade is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the change is material, we will also notify you in the app or by email.
